"Tell me what it is that you plan to do with
your one wild and precious life?"
As an experienced Marriage and Family Therapist, licensed for over twenty years, I bring warmth and genuine respect for the dynamics of relationship and the connections we make between aspects of our experience.
Psychotherapy is a natural for me, as I have always been fascinated by the relationship and connection between things ... call it "dynamics". I feel fortunate then, to be engaged in this profession, as my work with clients provides a rich opportunity to explore the dynamics in relationship, the interplay of thoughts, feelings, and self-perception, and the movement between states of contraction and openness.
My experience as a licensed Psychotherapist since 1992 has made it clear that a world of good can come from a therapeutic relationship that is based upon honesty, safety, and compassionate support for a client's growth and well-being. Research shows that the quality of this relationship between therapist and client is a pivotal factor in the effectiveness of therapy altogether. It is therefore vitally important to me that our therapeutic relationship is respectful of the significance of your work, while aligned with the achievement of your goals. My therapeutic style is focused, warm, and engaged.
In addition to enjoying my work with individuals, and given my inclination to all things relational, I have a passion for working with couples. I am a Certified Practitioner for both Encounter-centered Couples Therapy and Imago Relationship Therapy, two engaging and transformative approaches to healing ruptures in relationships. Both approaches are profound in their understanding of human nature, as well as practical in application; you are invited to learn more about each on my Couples Therapy page.
